TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Over her 20-plus year career Lori has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient mental health, crisis stabilization units, private practice, forensics with clients in the legal system, and foster care. Her current practice focuses especially on relationship work with couples.

She holds degrees from Florida Atlantic University (Masters in Social Work) and Barry University, as well as a certificate in sex therapy from the Modern Institutes for Sex Therapy.

Lori is a qualified clinical supervisor that is trained in effectively using cognitive behavioral therapies with mindfulness. She also works with individuals and families, and has extensive training in working with persons who identify as LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, or asexual). Lori was professionally trained as a sex therapist for two years at the Institutes for Modern Sex Therapy. Her unique ability to help you feel comfortable discussing any sexual topic imaginable especially suits people who identify with non-conforming sexual interests such as BDSM and “the lifestyle.”

IN HER OWN WORDS: First and foremost, my 20-plus years of practice has taught me that every person, couple or family with whom I work has unique needs and deserves to be treated as such. I’ve been described as an active, honest and engaging therapist who is able to truly help people move forward in their therapeutic journey, no matter the degree of difficulty. Clients and colleagues have told me they love my genuine approach and my “outside-the-box” style. I’m very passionate about my work and it brings me a great deal of satisfaction when people tell me I’ve provided them with a safe place to grow and learn.

I’m able to provide a judgment-free zone so that people are able to reveal the nature of their distress and essentially become unstuck. I believe people are looking to connect and grow — whether it’s spiritually, psychologically and/or emotionally, and I can help successfully guide them through this often difficult process.

I live in Maryland with my husband and three children. I moved to the DC area after living in Florida for 30 years, having moved from the New York area at the age of 14 years old.
